BA (Durham), PhD (Cambridge)

After graduating in Psychology at the University of Durham, U.K., I went on to do doctoral research at the MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit, Cambridge, receiving a PhD from the University of Cambridge for work on semantic processing during spoken language comprehension. I spent two years as a post-doctoral researcher at the University of Padua, Italy, working on semantic access and word recognition. I worked as an English language assistant at the University of Florence for one year before taking up my present post in the Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (formerly Research Centre for English and Applied Linguistics), University of Cambridge. My current main research interests are in the cognitive mechanisms of second language learning, specifically implicit learning.
